A goal for 2011

I would like to propose a national 2011 resolution that the Congress and all state legislatures take a one-year sabbatical. Require them to leave D.C. and state capitals to return home and live among the “real people.” The governments to be financed by budgets 10 percent lower than 2010 without any “earmarks.”

Have them use the time to talk with successful business people and informed citizens about reducing the cost and size of government to include the elimination of obsolete, duplicate and counterproductive programs and the current tax code for a simplified tax code proposed by the recent debt commission (lower rates, eliminate special interest “loopholes” and subsidies and raise revenue).

I am certain the benefits would include a more productive government, lower costs and lower blood pressure for all concerned citizens.
