Revenge is sweetest when the result means the most.

Tony Werley and Ryan Gately, after losing twice to Dalton Shears and Nathan Rawley during match play in the Junior Bowlers Tour doubles tournament Dec. 19 at Lilac Lanes, knocked off their top-seeded nemesis 437-413 to capture the first JBT championship for each.

Cody Hurley and Bry Tillett finished third, Jesse Covington and Robbie Winchell fourth and Patrick LaTrail and Tyler Sumpter fifth.

Werley fashioned a 1,007 four-game series (a 251 average) during the first round of qualifying and Shears had a 974 during match play. Each had a 279 game, the best for the boys during the day. Karissa Shiflet led the girls with a 277. Hurley had a 908 four-game series.

The next JBT is Jan. 9 at Valley Bowl.
