No laughing matter

Lisa Benson’s editorial cartoon (“Church of Global Warming,” Dec. 29) confuses me. She and others of like thought think that global warming is not true, due to the amount of snowfall in any certain region of the United States.

By definition, global warming is about temperature, not moisture. That is like saying there is no summer because we get cold rainy spells.

Why is the fact that every year the average temperature globally is a record or near-record high ignored?

How can she ignore that fact that CO2 saturation of the air is at levels never seen in the last 100,000 years or so?

How can she ignore the massive global melt-off of ice sheets and glaciers?

How can she ignore all the animal species that are losing their environments and therefore their survival?

How can she ignore the fact that our children and grandchildren will be the ones who suffer if our generation does not stop or slow down this warming trend?

How can political conservatives just write off the reality of global warming just by labeling it as another liberal cause?
