In brief: Scouts to recycle Christmas trees

SPOKANE VALLEY – Boy Scout Troop 400 will hold its annual Christmas tree recycling fundraiser Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, at Central Valley High School and Spokane Endodontics, 620 N. Argonne Road.

Trees may be dropped off at either location for a $5 suggested donation, or for a $10 donation trees will be picked up.

Proceeds from the fundraiser support troop activities.

Registration open for SJW wrestling

SPOKANE/SPOKANE VALLEY – SJW, a developmental wrestling program for ages 5 through 12, will hold a registration night for the upcoming season on Jan. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m., at the high school in the wrestler’s residence area.

High schools participating in SJW include Central Valley, East Valley, Ferris, Gonzaga Prep, Lewis and Clark, Mead, Mt. Spokane, North Central, Rogers, Shadle Park, University, and West Valley.

Tournaments will be held on Saturdays and wrestling practices are twice a week, with days and times varying from school to school.

Costs are $50 per person.

Let’s Move Cheney to meet

CHENEY – Let’s Move Cheney will meet today from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Parks and Recreation office, 2640 First St., Suite B.

Adam Fletcher, a writer, speaker, trainer and the state coordinator of Washington Action for Healthy Kids, will help the group develop its work plan for 2011.

Skate free at Ice Palace Saturday

RIVERSIDE – The Rockwood Clinic will sponsor a free skate day on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Riverfront Park’s Ice Palace.
