Area roundup: NIC volleyball coach quits after 1 season

Colleen Frohlich, who led North Idaho College’s volleyball team to a 29-7 record and fifth-place finish at the NJCAA tournament in her only year as head coach, has resigned, the school announced Wednesday.

Frohlich cited family reasons for her departure. Her husband has accepted a position that will require him to travel extensively.

Frohlich served as interim head coach at the University of Montana before coming to NIC. She was named Region 18 Coach of the Year after leading the Cardinals to the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular-season title and Region 18 tournament championship.

NIC will post the position beginning Friday.
