Mead downs NC

In a dual meet that featured 11 victories by pin, the biggest came at the 189-pound weight class as Shane Kuykendall rallied from a 12-6 deficit in the third period to earn a pin of Sam Rykken in 5:24, giving Mead (5-1) an 18-0 lead and pushing the Panthers to a 53-24 victory over North Central (3-3) in their GSL dual Tuesday at NC.

The Panthers tallied four consecutive pins at one point, building their lead to 41-6. Mead’s Jeremy Golding, wrestling up a weight at 140, won the final match of the night for the Panthers, taking down Mitchell Bocook 11-6 in a matchup of state placers. Golding won the state title at 135 last year.

The Indians managed to win the final two matches of the night, getting pins from Jeff Hawk-Robinson (145 pounds) and Jeremiah Yates (152).

Deer Park 57, Clarkston 12: Jesse Molina held off Joel Anderson to win 5-4 at 119 pounds to spark a run of nine consecutive match wins by the visiting Stags (3-0) in their victory over the Bantams (1-1).

East Valley 46, Medical Lake 24: Casey Ourada (119 pounds) beat Dylan Usselman with a 4-0 decision in a match between state-ranked opponents, leading the Knights (2-0) to a victory over the Cardinals (0-2) in Medical Lake.
