3-pointer just beats buzzer, lifting Vandals in OT win

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Jeff Ledbetter’s 3-pointer at the overtime buzzer lifted Idaho to a 78-77 victory against Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday night.

After Alex Johnson made 1 of 2 free throws for Cal State Bakersfield with 9 seconds remaining, the Vandals (11-6) got the ball to Ledbetter behind the arc on the right side for the winning shot.

Ledbetter had 13 points and made three 3-pointers.

Kyle Barone had 20 points and 13 rebounds for Idaho, which won its fifth straight game. Brandon Wiley added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Vandals.

Stephon Carter had 25 points, Alex Johnson 22 and Donovan Bragg 21 for the Roadrunners (8-9), who lost their fourth in a row. Carter’s 3-pointer, banked in as time expired in regulation, forced the extra period and culminated a comeback from a 14-point deficit.

Cal State Bakersfield led 74-68 with 1:19 remaining in overtime, but Deremy Geiger’s 3-pointer and a Ledbetter layup got the Vandals within a point.
