Pac 10 basketball: Williams leads Arizona win

Derrick Williams scored 31 points to set a career high for the second time in three games and Arizona used a big first-half run to beat Arizona State 80-69 on Saturday at Tucson, Ariz.

The sophomore, who scored 30 last week against California, went 8 for 12 from the field, made 15 of 16 free throws and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (15-3, 4-1 Pac-10). Trent Lockett scored 17 for the Sun Devils (9-9, 1-5).

Arizona took control with an 18-3 run in the first half, capped by Jordin Mayes’ 3-pointer that put the Wildcats up 29-18 with 5:49 left. It was pretty much a standoff after that.

UCLA 67, Oregon 59: Malcolm Lee scored 18 points and the Bruins (11-6, 3-2 Pac-10) made a barrage of 3-pointers late in the second half to hold off the Ducks (8-10, 1-5) at Eugene, Ore.

Oregon State 80, USC 76: Jared Cunningham scored 24 points to lead the Beavers (8-9, 3-3 Pac-10) over the Trojans (10-8, 2-3) at Corvallis, Ore.

Nikola Vucevic had 26 points and 14 rebounds for USC.
