Old Coeur d’Alene River Road evacuated due to severe flooding

Shoshone County has initiated a safety evacuation for the Old Coeur d’Alene River Road from milepost 6 to milepost 16 due to severe flooding in the area.

The county is experiencing severe flooding along the Coeur d’Alene River and its tributaries, the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office said. Water levels are still rising.

All residents living in the area are requested to evacuate their houses immediately. Sheriff’s deputies are going door to door in the area to notify residents.

At this time, the only areas of major concern are along the Old Coeur d’Alene River Road, where flooding has washed over a significant portion of the road, but the sheriff’s office said it will keep the community notified of further problems.
