Bagby leads Eagles past Greyhounds

Brady Bagby led all scorers with 23 points, hitting 11 of 12 free throws to lead visiting West Valley (11-2, 5-1) to a narrow 53-51 victory over Great Northern League foe Pullman (10-3, 4-2) Tuesday.

The Greyhounds led by eight at halftime but faltered after the break, scoring just 20 points. The Eagles capitalized, outscoring the Greyhounds 19-9 in the fourth quarter to earn the comeback win. Kalvin Johanson had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Greyhounds.

Clarkston 57, East Valley 39: Chanse Brownell led all scorers with 17 points and the Bantams (12-1, 6-0) maintained their one-game lead in the GNL, by outscoring the host Knights (8-6, 2-4) 23-8 in the first quarter and coasting to the win. The Knights were led by 10 points and 12 rebounds from Jake Reynolds.

Cheney 86, Deer Park 43: Lucas Hathaway finished with 19 points and seven rebounds off the bench, Parker Franklin added 12 points and six boards and the Blackhawks (8-6, 3-3) scored at least 23 points in each of the final three quarters to cruise past the visiting Stags (4-10, 0-6). Colton Mead finished with 13 points to guide Deer Park.

Northeast A

Lakeside 60, Freeman 47: Ryan Gunderson poured in a game-high 27 points to go with 14 rebounds and the host Eagles (8-7, 4-1) held the Scotties (7-8, 3-2) to 25 percent shooting for the game, using a 17-9 edge in the third quarter to put the game away in Nine Mile Falls. Jake Erickson had 11 points for the Eagles, who remain tied with Riverside for the top spot in the league. The teams are set to meet Friday in a showdown for first place.

Riverside 61, Newport 55: Jordan Wood scored a game-high 21 points, Jacob Biggs added 17 points and 10 rebounds and the Rams (8-6, 4-1) shot 16 of 19 from the free-throw line, outlasting the visiting Grizzlies (8-7, 2-3). Jake Wiley led the Grizzlies with 18 points, while Chaize Exkano scored 14.

Colville 62, Chewelah 46: Matt Hubbard finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Drew Cowbrough added nine points, nine rebounds and six assists as the Indians (8-7, 2-3) cruised to a win over the visiting Cougars (4-11, 0-5). Chewelah was led by 13 points from Nick Naccarato.

Cusick 65, Inchelium 22: Tyler Edwards notched 23 points, 10 rebounds and four steals and Louie Bluff added 10 points and 16 boards as the Panthers (10-4, 9-0) put the Hornets away early (3-9, 2-7), taking a 32-12 lead at halftime in Inchelium.

Central Wash 2B

Lake Roosevelt 66, Bridgeport 20: Ty Egbert led all scorers with 19 points and added 12 rebounds and four blocks and Keith Rosenbaum chipped in with 16 points and four steals as the Raiders (11-2) drubbed the visiting Mustangs (0-10).

Nonleague

Coeur d’Alene 71, Lakeland 33: Five players finished with double-digit points, led by 14 from Andrew Baranco, and the host Vikings (10-5) held the Hawks (2-12) to six points in the first quarter and three in the fourth to earn the win. Baranco hit three 3-pointers in the opening 4 minutes, helping the Vikings take a 17-point lead after one quarter.

Sandpoint 67, Priest River 63: Blaine Shultz scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter, hitting a pair of 3-pointers, as the Bulldogs (7-6) outscored the host Spartans (9-4) 17-9 in the final frame to earn the come-from-behind win. Shultz finished with a game-high four 3-pointers, while Eric Holbrook led the Spartans with 16 points.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 66, Okanogan 59: Derek Isaak tallied 17 of his 22 points in the second half, helping the Warriors (13-0) hold off the visiting Bulldogs (8-7). Cody Jess added 17 points for the Warriors with a pair of 3-pointers in his first game of the season following an injury during football season.

Mansfield 55, Wilbur-Creston 52: Maren McLean finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds and the Kernels (6-3) outlasted the host Wildcats (9-4) despite playing just five players throughout the game. Damon Abel had a double-double – 11 points, 10 rebounds – to pace the Wildcats.

Potlatch 71, Tekoa-Oakesdale 57: Stephen Brent went 13 of 17 from the floor and scored 14 of his game-high 32 points in the first quarter, helping the visiting Loggers (10-2) take a 14-point lead after the opening quarter against the Nighthawks (4-10). Joseph Tampien had 16 points, while Lance Lindgren added 12 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the 3-point line for Tekoa-Oakesdale.
