Saxons top Wildcats for 11th straight win
At first glance it would appear there was some lopsided individual scoring for the Ferris boys basketball team Tuesday.
Saxons senior wing Riley Stockton was involved in 38 points. But look a little closer and it’s evident that the thing that has emerged as a trend for Ferris continued in the Saxons’ 85-54 win over visiting Mt. Spokane in Greater Spokane League action.
Stockton scored a game-high 23 points, but he also dished out a school-record 15 assists. Three other Saxons finished in double-figure scoring – Chris Wilson had 17, Jordan Tonani 15 and Taylor Kamitomo 11. Tonani also had six steals.
Ferris improved to 11-1 overall with its 11th consecutive win and 10-0 in league.
Kellen Clute led the Wildcats (3-9, 1-9) with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Gonzaga Prep 64, Central Valley 55: The visiting Bullpups (10-3, 9-2) made their free throws in a key stretch of the fourth quarter to hold off the Bears (7-6, 6-5).
Chris Sarbaugh led the Bullpups with 19 points. Gaven Deyarmin led CV with 12.
University 69, Shadle Park 56: The visiting Titans turned up the defense (10-2, 9-2) to keep pace with Gonzaga Prep in second place.
Brett Bailey led U-Hi with 16 points, Zech Martin had 14 and Jared Miller added 10. Kionte Brown led Shadle (3-10, 2-9) with 19.
North Central 57, Rogers 45: The Indians (6-6, 6-5) outscored the visiting Pirates (4-9, 4-7) 28-20 in the second half.
Gunnar Swagger led the Indians with 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Zac Hill had 15 points and five rebounds and Isaiah Hollister scored seven of his 11 in the fourth quarter.
Marquis Leighton and Deavon Daniels each scored 10 for Rogers.
Lewis and Clark 54, Mead 46: Austin Dixon hit a 3-pointer with 2:45 to go to give the Tigers (3-10, 3-8) the lead for good over the visiting Panthers (5-8, 4-7).
The Tigers outscored Mead 18-7 in the fourth period. Brady Houbrick, who had a game-high 16 points for LC, made 6 of 6 foul shots in the final 3 minutes.
Nolan Bliss led Mead with 12 points.
