In brief: Redmon, Rapp lead GU women

“We did some good things and some bad things today but I liked the energy,” head coach Kelly Graves said. “It was a fun game. I thought when we needed to make stops we did. We scored the ball well and everybody got in.”

Redmon finished with a game-high 25 points and grabbed a career- high 11 rebounds. She made 10 of 14 shots, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc, and made both free throws.

Raap, whose previous career high was 15 in her sophomore season, made 7 of 11 shots.

The Bulldogs play at Saint Mary’s on Thursday at 6 p.m. The game will be televised on CBS College Sports.

Signs changing with the times

Basketball: Seattle Center officials are shopping the naming rights to KeyArena, one of the city’s high-profile sports venues, after KeyBank let its contract expire Dec. 31.

The bank’s parent company paid the city $300,000 annually for the past three years even though it could have walked away after the Sonics left for Oklahoma City in 2008. Before the team’s departure KeyCorp had paid the city $1.3 million a year since 1995.

Bank of America recently chose not to renew its contract for naming rights to the University of Washington’s Hec Edmundson Pavilion. That 10-year rights deal was worth $5 million.

Instead, Alaska Airlines will give the University of Washington $700,000 in cash and sponsorship benefits each of the next five years for the naming rights to Edmundson Pavilion.

The 84-year-old facility was officially renamed Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion on Thursday when the UW’s Board of Regents approved the deal with the airline.

Washington will receive $400,000 annually in cash; $25,000 in travel benefits; 20 MVP Gold memberships valued at $5,000 to $10,000 each; and $175,000 in sponsorship opportunities.
