A second blaze early this morning in the 11000 block of North Kathy Street sent a family of five fleeing for safety. The Spokane chapter of American Red Cross sent a team to help them with emergency housing, food and clothing following the 4 a.m. fire.
A 9:10 p.m. fire at 3315 S. Fiske St. started in the basement and caused about $15,000 in damage before it was extinguished.
The residents escaped without injury, but were unable to return to the home after the fire was put out. The department responded with 21 firefighters in six rigs. The cause is under investigation.
