Stevens County burn ban canceled

The Washington Department of Ecology has canceled a burn ban in Stevens County because of improving air quality. The ban went into effect on Saturday morning. It applied to use of uncertified wood stoves and outdoor burning. The ban was set to expire at 4 p.m. today, but conditions have improved enough to call off the ban earlier than scheduled, state officials said.
