In brief: Eye clinic offers glaucoma testing

CLIFF/CANNON – As part of Glaucoma Awareness Month, the Spokane Eye Clinic, 427 S. Bernard St., will have a free glaucoma screening on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The screenings will be done by Spokane Eye Clinic professionals to either detect the early stages of glaucoma or make sure it is not present at all.

Eating burgers helps nursery

SPOKANE/COEUR D’ALENE – The 11th annual Red Robin “Burgers with a Heart,” benefitting the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, will begin Monday and run through Feb. 13.

Red Robin restaurants in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene will donate 50 cents to the Crisis Nursery for every gourmet burger sold during the two-week fundraiser. Red Robin’s Spokane locations are 725 W. Main Ave., 9904 N. Newport Highway and 14736 E. Indiana Ave. In Coeur d’Alene, Red Robin is at 1501 W. Riverstone Drive.

Look-alikes win tickets, sundaes

RIVERSIDE – Ben and Jerry’s, on the third floor of River Park Square, will host an “Elle” licious look-alike contest on Saturday at 1 p.m., for local residents who think they look the most like the character Elle from the musical “Legally Blonde.” All participants will receive a Ben and Jerry sundae and the girl who has the most Elle qualities will win two tickets to the show on Feb. 10.

All contestants will also have an opportunity to enter a drawing to win two tickets to the Feb. 10 performance.

Cheney church offers free dinner

CHENEY – On Monday, Feed Cheney will provide a free, hot dinner at the Cheney United Church of Christ, 423 N. Sixth St., from 5 to 6 p.m. Dinner is open to the public and no qualifying paperwork is required.

Groceries will be available for those in need to take home after Monday’s dinner.

The monthly dinners are an outreach activity of the Cheney United Church of Christ, in partnership with the Women’s and Children’s Free Restaurant, Second Harvest and the Spokane Regional Health District.

Tickets on sale for ‘Fairy Tale’

CHENEY – StageWest Community Theatre will perform “Fairy Tale Courtroom,” beginning Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Showalter Hall Auditorium at Eastern Washington University.

Other performances are Feb. 12, Feb. 18-19, and Feb. 25-26 at 7 p.m. Sunday shows will also be held on Feb. 13 and Feb. 20 at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults and students and seniors, age 65 and older are $8. Tickets may be purchased at the Owl Pharmacy in Cheney and Medical Lake or online at www.stagewestct.org.
