NIC loses first home game of season to Southern Idaho

Darius Smith scored 20 points, hitting 10 of 11 free throws, as the College of Southern Idaho men’s basketball team held North Idaho (19-4, 4-4) to 26 points in the first half, beating the host Cardinals 86-73 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Saturday.

NIC entered the night 14-0 at home.

The Golden Eagles (21-2, 7-1) shot 43.5 percent from the field, scoring 24 points of 17 NIC turnovers.

Michael Hale III led the Cardinals, scoring 17 points to go with five rebounds and four assists. Columbia Basin CC 77, CC Spokane 74: Mitchell Jones shot 80 percent from the floor and scored a game-high 21 points and the visiting Hawks (6-12, 3-4 NWAACC) upended the Sasquatch (13-6, 5-2) at Spokane Falls CC.

CCS shot a season-worst 37.7 percent from the field in the game, led by the 15 points and 10 rebounds from Danny Marshall.

Rodney Delgardo had 14 points and shot 4 of 5 from 3-point range for CCS. Daniel Igbinoba had 12 points and 11 rebounds for CBCC.
