In brief: ’Melo, Nuggets visit New Jersey

Basketball: Carmelo Anthony is heading to New Jersey – with the Denver Nuggets.

Anthony (pictured) and the Nuggets make a visit to New Jersey tonight for the first time since Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov ended the drawn-out trade talks with Denver.

Nuggets coach George Karl says he’s proud of the way the Nuggets have handled the Anthony trade circus.

Prokhorov canceled a planned meeting with Anthony, ending any chance for now of a three-team deal between the Nets, Nuggets and Detroit Pistons.

Mild-mannered Durant draws ‘T’

Basketball: Kevin Durant drew a rare technical foul for jawing with Miami’s Chris Bosh in the first quarter of their game Sunday at Oklahoma City. And he wasn’t done talking.

When asked about it after the game, Durant had more harsh words for Bosh.

“I was talking to my teammate and he decided he wanted to put his 2 cents into it. I’m a quiet guy, a laid-back guy, but I’m not going to let nobody talk trash to me. He’s on a good team now, so he thinks he can talk a little bit,” Durant said.

“There’s a lot of fake tough guys in this league and he’s one of them,” Durant added.

Super Sunday at 30,000 feet

Football: Flying during the Super Bowl no longer means waiting for the pilot to announce the latest score.

But if you’re hoping to watch the Packers-Steelers matchup at 30,000 feet Sunday, plan carefully: Not every airline with TV will be showing the game and not all digital alternatives will work.

JetBlue Airways pioneered satellite TV on commercial airplanes in 2000 and four other U.S. airlines now have it. On airlines without TV, a Wi-Fi Internet connection is the next best thing.
