Sunshine and warmer temperatures have arrived just in time for the July Fourth holiday.

Highs should reach the lower 70s today and then the lower 80s on Saturday under sunny skies.

The summer weather will continue through early next week, although temperatures on Sunday and Monday are likely to remain in the middle and upper 70s.

A system of higher air pressure is replacing the persistent low that has brought cooler temperatures and rain since last spring.

Even warmer weather is likely on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the lower and middle 80s.

At 8 a.m., it was 53 at Spokane International Airport
