SCRAPS issues fireworks warning

SPOKANE COUNTY – Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Services warns pet owners and community members to be cautious during the Fourth of July weekend and aware of fireworks and the effects they may have on their pets and stray animals.

SCRAPS animal protection officers have reported an increase of calls of scared pets running or cowering in odd locations and strays running through neighborhoods during the noisy holiday weekend. Owners may find their pets missing because the animals have become so frightened that they find a way out of their yard.

Pet owners should make sure their animals are wearing identification tags, a pet license or that they are microchipped.

For more information call SCRAPS at (509) 477-2532.
