Atlantis carries final shuttle crew into orbit

With a thunderous roar, space shuttle Atlantis lifted off Friday from Cape Canaveral, Fla., marking the end of 30 years of triumph and tragedy for the U.S. space program. “Let’s light this fire one more time,” Atlantis commander Christopher Ferguson said before liftoff.
