Woman attempting u-turn struck by semi

A Desmet woman was hospitalized today after attempting to make a u-turn and being struck by a semi truck about 4:40 p.m. on Highway 95 near Worley.

Shelby M. Lozon, 28, was northbound in a Ford Focus on Highway 95 when she pulled over to the right shoulder, preparing to make a u-turn, according to an Idaho State Police news release. When attempting the u-turn, she pulled out in front of the semi, driven by Harley W. Catlow, 46, of Spokane Valley.

Lozon, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Kootenai Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Her passenger, Stephen K. Mahone, 30, was not wearing a seatbelt but was uninjured, the news release said. Catlow was also uninjured.
