Cop puts kibosh on community spirit

I guess I’ve finally lived long enough to see everything. Yes, I saw a T-ball game busted.

There is no visible “No Parking” sign by Liberty Lake Elementary School, but a policeman, with lights flashing, threatened $250 parking tickets to all “law-breaking” coaches and parents who didn’t move their cars.

For almost 50 years I’ve been parking by the gate openings of the Valley schools to unload my team’s equipment; no problems until Monday, when the policeman at Liberty Lake showed up.

Seeing that I have obvious mobility problems and handicap license plates, I asked the officer if I could wait until after I was done coaching to move my truck without getting a ticket. He answered “yes” then allegedly told a person nearby “we’ll just have her towed.”

Welcome to Liberty Lake.
