They’re talking taxes

I love how the liberals change the language to get their way. The latest example of this comes from the current debt ceiling debate in which they’re demanding revenue increases. The little secret is what they mean by revenue increases is higher taxes.

It’s a well-known fact that the highest revenues government received were when the economy was strong and taxes were low. Higher taxes do not guarantee more revenue; in fact, the opposite is true. If the president and other elected officials were truly honest in wanting to collect more revenue they would scrap the current income tax system and embrace the fair tax or the national sales tax.

But the sad truth is that what they are really interested in is controlling people’s behavior through the monstrous tax code and redistributing people’s hard-earned money. Let’s hope that at the end of these talks we will not have business as usual but come away with a balanced budget amendment or significant cuts without “revenue increases.”
