Felix doubles up

Allyson Felix wants to see if her body can withstand the exhausting demands of running the 200 and 400 meters at the London Olympics. So the American sprinter is putting herself through a test run at the world championships later this summer. Perform well in the difficult double in Daegu, South Korea, and Felix (pictured right) may just give the feat a whirl in London a year from now. Should she not, Felix might scrap the plan and concentrate solely on her signature event, the 200. “I’m happy to get this chance, to try it out before it’s all on the line,” Felix said Wednesday. No female sprinter has won gold in both races in the same year at worlds. “True success would be to pull it off,” Felix said. “I definitely want to have a successful run.” – AP
