In brief: Soccer association seeks players

SPOKANE COUNTY – The Inland Northwest Soccer Association is seeking players for its age-specific recreational soccer league. Teams are available for women and men.

Interested players of all ages are invited to join an existing team or form a new team in the division best suited for them. The over-40 and over-50 men’s and women’s leagues are especially in need of additional players.

Diamond rewards food donations

SPOKANE – During the month of August, Diamond Park ’N Jet will partner with Second Harvest to help those in need by raising awareness about hunger in the community.

Through August, businesses that encourage the community to donate food and/or cash to the food bank will have an opportunity to display their counter cards and posters at the Diamond location. And, individuals who donate three or more nonperishable cans of food will receive a free day of airport parking or a free car wash.

Fire station open house Saturday

NINE MILE FALLS – Spokane County Fire District 9 will have an open house on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Fire Station 93, 9915 W. Charles Road.

The public is welcome to tour the station and meet the firefighters. Visitors will also have an opportunity to get their photo taken in a firetruck and say hello to Smokey Bear.
