Woman found dead in Spokane Valley home

By The Spokesman-Review

A 29-year-old woman was found dead in her Spokane Valley home today, and two young children were found unharmed inside.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was found by police in a home in the 2000 block of South Fawn, just east of the Dishman-Mica Highway.

Her boyfriend called police to request someone check on her wellbeing after the woman didn’t show up to work Friday, said Sgt. Dave Reagan, spokesman for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

When officers arrived at the house, the woman’s 5-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son answered the door. The children were not hurt.

“It took them a second to get the front door open,” Reagan said.

The girl told officers her mother wouldn’t wake up, he said.

There were no obvious signs to indicate a cause of death, but investigators were treating the death as suspicious, Reagan said.

The woman wasn’t thought to have had any significant health problems. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
