In brief: Teen fashion show will benefit youth

EMERSON/GARFIELD – Divine Seniors photography studio and the Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council will have a teen fashion show today at the Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30.

The event will feature 40 teen models from the Spokane region, showcasing clothing, accessories, hairstyles and makeup from local boutiques and businesses.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased online at www.divineseniors.com. Proceeds will benefit local drug free youth and support the Substance Abuse Council’s Washington Drug Free Youth program.

Railroad buffs plan open house June 17-18

FAIRGROUNDS – The Inland Empire Railway Historical Society will hold its fifth annual open house on June 17-18 at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants can enjoy a free train ride, museum tours, historical displays and photo opportunities. Food will be available.

Cost is $5 donation per family or $10 for a van or bus full of attendees. Proceeds will support the society and their move to their new home in Reardan, Wash.

Cafe at Manito Park to feature live music

MANITO/CANNON HILL – The Park Bench Cafe in Manito Park will have a free series of live music beginning Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The live entertainment will be each Friday during the summer.

The series will include Michael and Kelleren Millham, the Trailer Park Girls and Just Plain Darin. The café will offer food and beverages, including wine and beer, during the show. The Park Bench, located between Mirror Pond and the Duncan Garden, is also open during the day.

Soccer tourney will benefit fund

MEAD – The Mead School District and local soccer associations will hold the Olivia Chaffin Memorial Soccer Tournament June 17-19 in honor of the Evergreen Elementary second-grader who was killed last June in a car accident.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Olivia Chaffin Memorial Fund, created through the Mead Foundation. The funds will be used to support extracurricular programs and participants in the Mead School District.
