The Slice: Can you spot a viable rescue plan?

So there you are, pulling weeds by hand.

You notice that a ladybug is riding one of the uninvited plants just yanked out of the planet.

Naturally, you want to save the cute little aphid-eater and keep it employed in your yard. But how?

You can try holding the extracted weed next to a tree or shrub and coax the ladybug to hop on.

Or you can attempt to give it a ride on a blade of grass.

You can gently blow on it as subtle sign that it’s time to move on to approved landscaping.

Or, well, I suppose there are lots of approaches. What’s yours?

Slice answer: Mary Cayer said she has a hard time not mixing up “Kirsten” and “Kristen.”

Who doesn’t?

Warm-up question: Not all that many years ago, it seemed as if one in 10 adults in the 21-to-39 age bracket believed he or she could write a best-selling children’s book. But you don’t hear that quite so often these days. Is that attributable to the changing media/publishing landscape or is there some other explanation?

Today’s Slice question: Have you ever been referred to as “a gamer”?
