Partisan heritage declined

I agree with Steve Brown’s letter of May 25, asking why wage earners would want to be in the Republican Party. I was raised by parents who made such disparaging remarks about Democrats that I was in my 30s before I realized I was in the wrong party. I’m afraid most of us are born into a political party, as if it were a religion, and never question it.

All hard-working men and women need to realize that the Republican Party is the party of the richest Americans. Unfortunately, not many of them care anything about the rest of us who labor for our money.
