Man killed by Richland police

RICHLAND – Richland police responding to a report of a suspicious person shot and killed a man Sunday morning.

A police spokesman said officers dispatched to the area found the man in a vehicle about 6:30 a.m. in the area of Cottonwood and Thayer drives. Police say that after officers confronted the man, shots were fired. The man died at the scene.

Capt. Jeff Taylor said more than one officer fired but he declined to say how many. He said he didn’t immediately know whether the man had been armed, because officers had not yet been interviewed.
