Gonzaga graduate killed in Afghanistan
WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) — The Defense Department has confirmed that a soldier from Walla Walla was one of two men killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.
The department said Friday that 25-year-old 1st Lt. Mathew G. Fazzari of Walla Walla and 39-year-old Capt. Scott P. Pace of Brawley, Calif. were killed in Wednesday’s crash.
The Fazzari family told The Union-Bulletin he was a 2010 graduate of Gonzaga University who leaves a wife and two young sons.
