Mild temperatures here to stay

A mild and partly sunny day is in store for the Inland Northwest with only a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Forecasters are calling for a high of 69 in downtown Spokane and 67 in Coeur d’Alene. The low tonight should be about 49. A series of weak storm disturbances is moving inland from the Pacific Ocean, bringing a threat of showers through Saturday. Sunday’s weather should be mostly sunny in Spokane with a high of 72. Coeur d’Alene will have good weather, but a lingering chance of showers through the weekend. Highs are going to be near 70 with lows near 50 through the next several days. Next week’s weather looks to continue the trend of mild temperatures, some sunshine and a chance of showers. Lakes and rivers remained high across the region. Lake Pend Oreille may reach flood stage of 2,063.5 feet in elevation by Sunday or Monday. It is expected to crest next week at 2,063.85 feet. The Pend Oreille River downstream of Albeni Falls Dam is currently at flood stage and expected to rise through the next week from its current flow of 108 cubic feet per second to 115.4 cfs. At 7 a.m., it was 53 at Spokane International Airport, 50 at Felts Field and Coeur d’Alene and 53 in Deer Park.
