In brief: Hospital campus to be smoke free

SPOKANE VALLEY – Beginning July 1, all Valley Hospital and Medical Center properties will be entirely tobacco and smoke free, inside and outside. The use of any form of tobacco anywhere on the property, including grounds, parking lots and vehicles, will be prohibited.

Valley Hospital patients who are tobacco users will have the option to receive nicotine replacement therapy such as patches, during hospital stays. Hospital visitors who use tobacco will be offered complimentary “Kraving Kits” that contain non-nicotine items to assist with withdrawal, as well as information about cessation resources.

Put your photo on library mural tile

LIBERTY LAKE – The Liberty Lake Library Foundation is selling engraved tiles for a 6-foot-by-8-foot photomosaic tile mural, which will decorate the Liberty Lake Municipal Library.

Businesses, families and individuals are encouraged to become part of a one-of-a-kind piece of art created from their own photos. Photos can include family, friends, pets, school pictures, scenery, sports, birthday parties and holidays. Tiles may be purchased for $50 for 4-inch border tiles, $150 for 6-inch border tiles or $500 for 12-inch center anchor tiles.

Order forms are available at the library, at the foundation’s table at the Liberty Lake yard sale today or at the farmers market on June 25. Tiles will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Luncheon Friday will honor fathers

SPOKANE VALLEY – Valley Meals on Wheels and the Coeur d’Alene Casino will honor local dads on Friday with a Father’s Day luncheon at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The celebration will include entertainment by the Singing Grandpas of Project Joy.
