Sunny morning likely to hold all day

Following Monday’s showers, forecasters are calling for a spring break today with sunny skies and mild afternoon temperatures. A temporary ridge of higher air pressure has moved into the Inland Northwest, bringing mostly sunny skies early this morning. Cloud development later in the day is expected to be limited. Highs should reach the upper 60s and lower 70s with zero chances for showers. Light winds are possible out of the south in Spokane. Spokane International Airport reported 0.07 inches of rain on Monday with a high of 69 compared with an average high of 73. Today’s spring break is not going to last long. Another weak system off the coast of British Columbia is expected to slide into the region, bringing clouds, wind gusts and a 30 percent chance of showers on Wednesday. Unsettled late spring weather stays in place through the weekend with the exception of Friday, which is shaping up to be dry and partly sunny. Yet another weak low arrives for the weekend with the highest chances of showers in mountain areas of the region, especially the mountains north of Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. Computer models are showing a chance of warmer weather with highs near 80 in Spokane early next week, forecasters said. Summer begins next Tuesday. At 7 a.m. today, it was 50 at the airport in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene, 51 at Felts Field, 49 at Deer Park and 52 in Pullman.
