Banned A Northern California youth baseball league has barred Barry Bonds’ former personal trainer from coaching his son’s team. The president of the Burlingame Youth Baseball Association says Greg Anderson is not a registered coach and is prohibited from being on the field during games. Anderson, who has coached for years, was told of the prohibition after a parent complained about the convicted steroids dealer’s participation.

Exercised The Los Angeles Clippers have exercised their fourth-year contract option on rookie of the year Blake Griffin, keeping him with the club through 2012-13. The Clippers also exercised their third-year contract options on point guard Eric Bledsoe and forward Al-Farouq Aminu.

• Phoenix Suns swingman Mickael Pietrus exercised the one-year player option on his contract. The 28-year-old Pietrus played in 38 games for the Suns this season, averaging 7.4 points and 2.2 rebounds.

Hired The Ottawa Senators have a new coach, and new philosophy. Paul MacLean, an assistant coach for the Detroit Red Wings the past five years, was hired by a team that failed to make the playoffs two of the last three seasons. MacLean helped Detroit win the Stanley Cup in 2008.

• Fired Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez has landed a college football broadcasting job at CBS Sports Network. The cable channel said that Rodriguez would be a game and studio analyst for the upcoming season.

Switched U.S. skater Ashley Wagner is now training with Sasha Cohen’s coach, John Nicks. Wagner is a two-time bronze medalist at the junior world championships.

Out Three-time U.S. figure skating champion Johnny Weir says he’s sitting out the upcoming season, but still plans to compete at the Sochi Olympics. Weir said on his website that his “many obligations” prevent him from adequately training for competition.

Died The 17-year-old daughter of former NBA star Robert Horry has died in Houston after battling a rare genetic condition. Ashlyn Horry was diagnosed early on with the 1p36 Deletion Syndrome, a rare chromosome disease that is characterized by intellectual disability, delayed growth, seizures and respiratory problems.
