Bhutanese refugees missing in Spokane case

Three refugees from Bhutan have been reported missing since June 11, and Spokane police have assigned a detective to investigate the case. The three were identified as Dilli Ram Bhattarai, 28, Krishna L. Dhital, 21, both of Tukwila, Wa., and Krishna Dhakal, 17, of Spokane. They were last seen on June 11 in front of an apartment of a friend at 1608 E. Mission Ave. The two Tukwila residents were on a visit to Spokane at the time. Bhattarai failed to show up at work on June 13 and Dhakal was expected to be in school that same day, according to the Bhutanese Community Resource Center in Seattle. Bhattarai and Dhakal are cousins and were neighbors to Dhital in a refugee camp in Nepal. Spokane police spokeswoman Jennifer DeRuwe said a detective is working on the case.
