Pain serves GOP cause
Our Republican friends have made a calculation that keeping the economy bad will likely have the result that they will win the 2012 presidential race. In other words, politics trumps national welfare.
Everyone knows that there is enough money available to get us through the present “troubles” to the inevitable better times. But the “line in the sand,” no more taxes, means austerity and hard times for us all except the very wealthy with the tempting value of a Republican win in 2012. That is the Republican calculation. If and when the general public understands this, and all of the evidence is out there, maybe it won’t work out like they planned.
Have you noticed how they ran on “jobs, jobs, jobs” in 2010 but we have heard nothing about that since they won the U.S. House of Representatives? All we hear about is job-slashing cost-cutting. Remember how they trashed Democrats for “cutting Medicare benefits” in the Affordable Health Care Act and now they propose to destroy Medicare as we know it?
