Bring vaccination records to kindergarten sign-up

Kindergarten registration for the 2011-’12 school year starts today in the Central Valley School District. Parents can register students at their neighborhood school.

Classes are available for the mornings, afternoons and all-day, tuition-based classes with extended child care. Options vary by school.

Parents should bring up-to-date immunization records, original state-certified birth certificates and proof of residence with a utility bill.

They should also bring proof of immunity to chickenpox. This includes two doses of varicella vaccine, a titer test which confirms immunity, or verification of having had chickenpox by a health care provider. Parental reports of students having had chickenpox are not accepted. New students can’t be enrolled until vaccinations are complete.

Kindergarten students must be 5 on or before Aug. 31.

Students in the Greenacres and Liberty Lake elementary attendance areas can register at the Kindergarten Center, 1512 N. Barker Road.

New first-grade students can also enroll at their neighborhood schools. They must be 6 on or before Aug. 31.

For more information, call the district office at (509) 228-5425 or visit www.cvsd.org.
