Not even North Central boys basketball coach Jay Webber tried to sugarcoat what he saw Friday afternoon.
The most important thing Webber witnessed, though, was his Indians staying alive for a trophy in a 53-46 win over the Chief Sealth Seahawks in a State 3A tournament loser-out game at the Tacoma Dome.

The most important thing Webber witnessed, though, was his Indians staying alive for a trophy in a 53-46 win over the Chief Sealth Seahawks in a State 3A tournament loser-out game at the Tacoma Dome.

NC (13-13) faces No. 1-ranked O’Dea (24-4) at 9:30 this morning for fourth and sixth places.

“It’s always special to get wins over here no matter how they come,” smiled Webber. “It wasn’t a pretty game by any means. We really struggled from the free-throw line.”

NC made things much more tougher than it had to be, making just 12 of 26 foul shots.

But the Indians showed determination.

Zac Hill led NC with 19 points and 14 rebounds and Gunnar Swager had 17 points, six rebounds and three assists.

NC outrebounded Chief Sealth 41-30.

“A lot of kudos to our kids for hanging in there,” Webber said. “I’m so proud of how they bounced back after yesterday’s loss. Any time you’re playing for hardware at a state tournament you’ve had a great season.”
