Party getting out of control

So the “tea party patriots” held a meeting in Phoenix (“Tea party coalition talks policy,” Feb. 27).

Their wannabe presidential candidate, Herman Cain, made his position clear. He’s for lowering corporate taxes, eliminating the capital gains tax and suspending taxes on profits made overseas by American companies. I think we can guess who’s supporting his campaign and who’s going to benefit if he wins, and it sure isn’t the average worker.

But fear not! Rep. Joe Barton of Texas is defending our liberties. Especially the constitutionally guaranteed right to use incandescent light bulbs. Where do we get these people?

And have you noticed how many tea party members are of Social Security and Medicare age? I wonder how many have turned down those artifacts of big government.

Maybe we should call it the Mad Hatter’s tea party.
