St. Maries boys lose in 3A state tournament semifinals

Austin Winegar finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds Friday as the Weiser Wolverines advanced to the Idaho 3A State basketball tournament championship game with a 56-43 win over St. Maries at Meridian High.

Warren Joiner, Jake Mercer and Ian Heath had 11 points apiece for the Lumberjacks (19-6), who will meet Snake River (18-6) at 10 a.m. today for third place. Heath also had 11 rebounds.

Priest River 78, Kimberly 57: Eric Holbrook totaled 29 points, 11 rebounds and six assists as the Spartans (18-6) eliminated the Bulldogs (17-7) at Meridian High.

PR, the defending champion, will meet Sugar-Salem (17-8) at 8:15 this morning in the consolation championship.

Moscow 58, Rigby 53 (OT): Lane Brooks finished with 22 points and seven rebounds as the Bears (9-14) eliminated the Trojans (16-12) at Borah High in Boise.

Moscow will play Bishop Kelly (16-9) at 8:15 this morning in the consolation championship.
