In brief: Food distribution planned Friday

MILLWOOD – Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road and Second Harvest Inland Northwest Food Bank will be handing out food in the church parking lot Friday, from noon to 2 p.m.

Free produce and perishable products for families in need of food assistance will be available and no appointment is necessary. Participants must be present to receive their food. Boxes will be needed to carry food.

Comedy group to perform March 18

LIBERTY LAKE – Three Chairs and the Truth, an improv comedy troupe, will perform at Liberty Lake Community Theatre, 1421 Meadowwood Lane, on March 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Golf group hosting kickoff March 23

COMSTOCK – The Executive Women’s Golf Association will have its kickoff and friend-raising event March 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Manito Golf and Country Club, 5303 S. Hatch Road.

Cost is $30 per person. The event provides opportunities for women to learn, play and enjoy golf.

Car accident victim benefit set

SPOKANE COUNTY – The public is invited to a spaghetti feed on Saturday to benefit Jake Gallagher, a Spokane resident who was critically injured in a car accident in December.

The feed will be held at Calvary Chapel of Spokane, 511 W. Hastings Road, from 5 to 8 p.m., and will include entertainment from Gallagher’s band, Half Penny Sparrow and dancers from Dance Emporium. A silent auction will also be held.

The event is free but donations will be accepted. Proceeds will help pay for Gallagher’s medical costs and recovery.

SCRAPS chocolate fundraiser April 29

SPOKANE VALLEY – Tickets are on sale for the SCRAPS sixth annual Chocolate Festival and Auction, to be held April 29 at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St.

The event will feature chocolates and desserts, silent and live auctions, along with the Parade of Pets, offering adoptable pets.

Tickets purchased before April 15 are $25 per person; after, they are $30 per person.
