Brigham Young made correct decision

I’m one of the few who thinks that Brigham Young University made the right choice of sticking to its principles. BYU kicked Brandon Davies off the basketball team for the rest of the season for violating the college’s honor code.

I believe this because other schools have bent their rules a bit, just so their athletic programs should continue on the path to success. It seems to me that academics don’t really matter over athletics now. It’s the other way around. Athletes often choose wrong over right, when it needs to be the other way.

Sports commentators were skeptical after BYU suspended one of its best players, saying the Cougars threw away their chance of playing in the Final Four. I also think Davies had guts going and telling officials of his wrongdoing.

BYU doesn’t care what everyone else thinks. It is going to stick to its policy, no matter what its reputation is going to be. That’s why I feel so moved by BYU’s action and I think it was the right thing to do.
