Liberty Lake Blotter, 3/17/11

The Idaho State Police contacted the Liberty Lake Police Department in the early morning hours of March 8 after picking up a hitchhiker on Interstate 90 at Exit 1.

Joshua I. Mayhew, 34, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia by the ISP. While they were talking with Mayhew, police noticed his knuckles were bloody and he explained he was involved in a fight with his girlfriend that evening.

The ISP contacted the LLPD to check on the girlfriend in the 25000 block of Hawkstone Loop. She said Mayhew had punched the back window of her vehicle and broke it. She said he also punched the door of the vehicle and put a dent in it.

The ISP booked him into jail for the drug charges and the LLPD is forwarding charges of domestic violence malicious mischief to the prosecutor’s office.

The LLPD also responded to a report of an afternoon residential burglary on Sunday.

A witness called the department and said a subject arrived at an apartment in the 21200 block of East Country Vista Drive in a Ford Bronco and used some type of tool to open the back window screen and window. The witness said the subject crawled through the window and exited a few minutes later carrying something heavy.

The witness was able to get the license plate number of the vehicle. Police soon identified Kenneth D.A. Marl Jr. as the driver. It was determined he was the son of the renter of the apartment, who said he was missing a large jug filled with change and he hadn’t been in contact with his son for about six months.

A warrant has been issued for Marl’s arrest on charges of residential burglary and theft.

The LLPD also said several vehicles were prowled March 10 in the 23200 block of East Appleway in a business parking lot between 12:45 and 2:30 a.m.

Items taken from the vehicles include CDs, cell phone chargers, videos and a checkbook.
