Letter: Thanks, GU band

Sun., March 20, 2011

After watching most of the Gonzaga men’s and women’s basketball games on TV, some at the Kennel, and going to Las Vegas for the WCC tournament, I want to give a big thank you to the GU band.

The games are so fun to watch, but having music just really gets you into the spirit of the game and competition.  The musicians are professionals, calling up tunes on a moment’s notice, cutting off together quickly when the play restarts, all the while still sounding terrific (not an easy feat for a pep band).

Experiencing a game in person is not easy, with limited tickets to the games available to the public. If you get a chance to go, you’ll see what I mean. Seeing the entire arena singing “Don’t Stop Believing” or the GU fight song with the student section just keeps the action going during lulls in play or timeouts.

Thanks, GU band, for making the games even more exciting and for supporting your school and “our” team. Kudos. Go, Zags.
