S-R decision a concern

I’m concerned over the decision by the paper to eliminate daily roundups on high school sports.

The paper decided that people don’t read the articles and they would just put the box scores on a daily basis but would not write anything about the games till the end of the week.

I have been part of the sports scene in Spokane for many years. As a player for North Central in the late 1970s, it was a thrill to read the morning newspaper articles talking about the game and on occasion even getting mentioned in the article.

As parents of athletes going through North Central from 1998-2008, our children had many opportunities to be mentioned in your articles. It was not only a thrill for my wife and me, but also our children would wake up in the morning and read the paper after a big game hoping they were mentioned in the article. If they were, they would be congratulated through the day by teachers and friends on a job well done. You just don’t get that same feeling in a box score.

Isn’t this what scrapbooks are made of?
