What lesson, Cougs?

We have all heard the jokes that the Washington State basketball team could be the poster children for the “Legalize Marijuana” campaign in our state. Reggie Moore, Klay Thompson and DeAngelo Casto have all been busted for possession of pot.

Last week, however, coach Ken Bone and athletic director Bill Moos sank to a new low in reinstating Casto before he served a suspension, stating that they were going to let the legal system play out.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that a win that night would send the Cougars to the NIT final four in New York?

Bone had already shown his win-at-all-costs philosophy when he chose the game for which Moore was suspended (a very winnable game) instead of immediately suspending him the very next game.

Bone and Moos should take note of how Gonzaga coach Mark Few handled his high-profile player who also dabbled in illegal drugs. He suspended him for the season and would not reinstate him until he showed the Gonzaga coaches that he had put those ways behind him.

Coach Few decided that a life lesson was more important than a few wins. I wonder what coach Bone has taught his players?
