In brief: Five Guys restaurant opens Valley location

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Spokane Valley location of Five Guys Burgers and Fries is now open for business. The restaurant, located at 10 N. Sullivan next to Petco, is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The business is owned by the same Montana-based company that opened a Five Guys location on Spokane’s South Hill last fall. The restaurant is famous for its burgers, hot dogs, veggie sandwiches and Cajun seasoned fries. The phone number is (509) 927-2846.

Ladies golf club to meet today

Latah Valley – The Hangman Valley Ladies 18 Hole Golf Club will have its first meeting for the 2011 season this morning at 9 a.m. at the Hangman Valley clubhouse.

The Ladies will play a round of golf following the meeting, weather permitting.

Holy Names presents music benefit

RIVERSIDE – Holy Names Music Center will hold its fourth annual Community Music Benefit Concert, “Live at the Fox,” tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, 1001 W. Sprague Ave.

The evening is a musical revue, featuring the performers of Spokane’s Community Music School. The event will kick-off Jazz Appreciation Month.

The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to support Holy Names.

Group participates in fundraising challenge

Spokane Valley – Spokane Valley Partners, 10814 E. Broadway Ave., is collecting food donations through April in a fundraising challenge led by Feinstein Foundation, an anti-hunger group which distributes money to organizations based on the amount of donations and pledges they collect.

Food donations may be dropped off Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesdays from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ladies golf group set to play

LATAH VALLEY – The Par-Tees Nine-Hole Ladies Golf League at The Creek at Qualchan Golf Course, 301 E. Meadowlane Road, is ready to play for the 2011 season.

The Par-Tees play each Tuesday afternoon, April through September. Club membership is $27, Golf Handicap and Information Network membership is $28.

New members are welcome.
