Weapons report prompts elementary school lockdown

Moran Prairie Elementary School in south Spokane was locked down for about 50 minutes this morning as sheriff’s officials responded to a report of a juvenile in the area with a weapon. The lockdown began about 10:10 a.m. and ended at 11 .am. said Principal Mark Gorman. Sheriff’s officials responded to the area of 61st Avenue and Dearborn Road to look for an adolescent “who had some type of weapon,” Gorman said. “They couldn’t confirm whether it was real or toy,” Gorman said. Deputies searched the area but didn’t find a suspect, Gorman said. Moran Prairie is located at 4224 E. 57th Ave.
