Letter: M’s should dump Cust

Jack Cust, the Seattle Mariners’ designated hitter, looks like an overweight old man at the plate whose time has passed.

What did the Mariners ever see in Jack Cust?  Not only is he not hitting his weight, he’s not even hitting Ichiro’s weight.

Cust is good at striking out. Even with Oakland, he struck out a lot. Billy Beane, the Oakland general manager, would have re-signed him if he thought he had any worth.

Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik  must have signed him because they share the same first name.

Even Felix Hernandez is a better hitter (as you will see in interleague play).

It is time for the Mariners to cut Cust.
